During this class you will learn the biomorphic patterns associated with the Early Ottoman Empire. We will look at the different patterns found in Green Mosque and Tomb as well as make comparisons to Seljuk and Ottoman patterns. We will explore these patterns by constructing them using ruler, pencil and compass.

The symbolism, historical significance and and spiritual importance of some motifs will be shared at the beginning of the class as a part of a short presentation that will allow students to become acquainted with the subject matter in a deeper way.

This is a two part class. The second part of the Turkish Patterns course will occur on Wednesday August 26th, 2020
