During this class you will follow the growth and inspiration of a Moroccan zilij pattern from nature to the ceramic geometric composition. The never ending possible geometric compositions will be explored and constructed using ruler, pencil and compass.

In this class, colour usage and origins in Andalusian Islamic Art will be explained and explored. This will help the student to understand and create informed colour choices for their geometric compositions.
The symbolism, historical significance and and spiritual importance of some motifs will be shared at the beginning of the class as a part of a short presentation that will allow students to become acquainted with the subject matter in a deeper way.

This is a two part class.
