During this class you will learn to create the biomorphic patterns and underlying geometric structures associated with Iznik border tiles. We will look at the different Iznik patterns found throughout the Ottoman empire and compare them. We will explore these patterns by constructing them using ruler, pencil and compass. I will provide clear, step by step instructions to ensure your success in the class.
The symbolism, historical significance and and spiritual importance of some motifs will be shared at the beginning of the class as a part of a short presentation that will allow students to become acquainted with the subject matter in a deeper way.
This is a part of 6 weeks of Turkish Pattern Tuesday classes. You can participate in one or as many as you like from the series!
